How Passive Inheritance Works

In Palworld, whenever a child hatches, it has a high chance of inheriting up to 4 passive skills from its direct parents. It can also randomly mutate new skills.

The 2+2 Rule (Best Method)

To get a child with exactly 4 specific traits (e.g., Legend, Musclehead, Ferocious, Burly Body), the most mathematically optimal parent combination is:

  • Parent 1: Has exactly 2 of the desired traits (and no others).
  • Parent 2: Has the other 2 desired traits (and no others).

Probability Estimates

While the exact in-game probability depends on patches, community testing suggests:

  • 4/4 matching traits (2+2 method): ~10% chance per egg.
  • 3+1 method: ~5-7% chance per egg.
  • 4+4 method: Less than 5% chance per egg (too much noise).
  • 4+0 method: Very low chance, lots of random mutations occur.
